Epic Games Announces Fortnite’s First-Person Mode: Fortnite Ballistic
Epic Games, the force behind the global phenomenon Fortnite, has declared its intention to take the game to a new level with Fortnite Ballistic. This newest addition to the Fortnite universe is a 5v5 multiplayer tactical shooter game set for early access on December 11. The focus of Ballistic is to provide an adrenaline-filled, round-based 5v5 competitive game mode. Here, strategy, tactical teamwork, and individual prowess are imperative for victory.
Fortnite Ballistic: Game Details and Features
Ballistic is launching with the Skyline 10 map, a starting set of weapons, and a limited number of items. The game will be adjusted and updated beyond its initial launch based on player feedback. This could include major updates such as the introduction of new maps, weapons, and features. An exciting feature for Fortnite fans is that all saved presets from your Locker will carry over into Ballistic. This includes existing Fortnite Outfits, Back Blings, Kicks, Wraps, Sprays, and Emotes. However, Pickaxes, Contrails, Instruments, Vehicles, and Jam Tracks will not be used or supported in this mode.
Availability and Accessibility
At launch, Ballistic will be accessible on all platforms and regions where Fortnite is supported, with the exceptions of South Korea and Russia. Epic Games is working to make Ballistic available in both regions and promises to provide an update when new information is available.
Gameplay in Fortnite Ballistic
In Ballistic, players are divided into two teams at the start of the match: attackers and defenders. The attackers aim to plant a reality-tearing Rift Point Device at one of two sites on the map, while defenders aim to prevent the device from being planted and detonated. The round ends if the Rift Point Device explodes, or either team is completely eliminated. After six rounds, players will swap sides, giving defenders a chance to be attackers and vice versa. The game concludes when either team has won seven rounds in total.
On the buy screen, players select their weapons loadout for each round. They start the game with a Ranger Pistol and 800 Credits. In Ballistic, Credits can be earned from scoring eliminations and planting the Rift Point Device. These can be spent within a match at the beginning of every round on additional items and weapons to increase your chances of success. If a player survives a round, they keep all of their gear and shields for the next one, minus any consumable items used.
The game also provides the option to drop weapons, smoke grenades, and flashbangs at any time for your teammates and pick them up from eliminated players. The Rift Point Device takes 45 seconds to detonate after it’s planted. If it’s successfully defended, players need to move a considerable distance away or risk being eliminated in the device’s blast radius.
Keeping Score and Staying Updated
Players can check the scoreboard at any time during a Ballistic match to see how they and their teammates are performing, and to know what weapons and items their teammates are working with. As Ballistic continues to evolve, players can look forward to a dynamic and engaging addition to the Fortnite universe.
