As any hardcore gamer knows, the lifespan of our gaming devices is paramount. There’s nothing quite as heart-breaking as a mid-game crash due to hardware issues. Now, thanks to iFixit, you can extend the life of your Xbox Series X or S with genuine repair parts.
iFixit now sells original Xbox parts for you to repair your gaming console. In addition, the company provides official guides to aid with the repair process. These resources can be found at the Microsoft Repair Hub on iFixit’s website – a one-stop-shop for all your Microsoft repair needs.
“We’re excited to be working with Microsoft to keep Xboxes running longer and out of the waste heap,” Elizabeth Chamberlain, iFixit’s director of sustainability, says in a statement to The Verge. “We now offer official Microsoft parts and step-by-step repair guides for Xbox Series S and Series X, including both the all-digital and disk drive editions.”
Expanding the Repair Ecosystem
This is not iFixit’s first venture into the world of tech repairs. The company has been selling parts for Microsoft Surface devices since 2023, allowing customers to extend the life of their laptops and tablets.
“Since we launched our Surface parts collaboration with Microsoft last year, we’ve been helping our customers repair their own Microsoft laptops and tablets — and it’s awesome to be able to offer Xbox owners the same opportunity,” Chamberlain says.
Beyond Microsoft
The collaboration with Microsoft is just one of many partnerships that iFixit has established. The company also provides genuine repair parts for Google’s Pixel phones and the Pixel Tablet, and even sells almost every component of the Steam Deck, Valve’s handheld PC gaming device.
A Win for Sustainability
These partnerships signify a big leap towards sustainability in the tech industry, reducing electronic waste by facilitating device repair. iFixit’s efforts align with the growing trend towards a more sustainable and environmentally conscious consumer market.
