Microsoft’s Copilot AI-Ready Surface Lineup Refresh
Microsoft’s first Copilot AI-ready Surface laptop arrived earlier this year, setting the stage for a new era of AI-powered computing. The tech giant is now preparing for a comprehensive refresh of its lineup due in 2025, according to a recent report by Windows Central.
New Surface Pro and Surface Laptop Expected
The upcoming refresh is expected to include new Surface Pro and Surface Laptop computers. These new devices will be powered by Intel Lunar Lake chips, marking them as Copilot Plus PCs with AI features. This development comes after Microsoft chose not to extend the Copilot Plus label and associated features to the Surface Pro 10 and Surface Laptop 6, which were powered by Intel Metor Lake chips with NPUs that didn’t meet the necessary mark.
“The new Surface Pro and Surface Laptop are also expected to get anti-reflective screen coating, and the Laptop version might get a card reader and 5G options.”
Surface Laptop Studio Upgrade
The Surface Laptop Studio is also due for an upgrade from the current model’s 13th-gen Intel chips. The upgraded model could possibly be powered by either Intel or AMD chips. However, one thing is clear: the new model is hoped to offer better battery life than the current version.
Surface Studio 2 Plus Discontinued
In other news, Microsoft has confirmed to Windows Central that the Surface Studio 2 Plus all-in-one is being discontinued. This development suggests slim chances of a Copilot Plus version of the device being released in the near future.
New Hybrid Surface Device Rumored
Finally, there’s word of a new Surface device with an 11-inch display. This new device, described by sources as a hybrid between the Surface Go and Laptop Go, is expected to feature premium components powered by a Snapdragon X Plus chipset.
